"Iyengar-based classes for Enlightened Beings of all levels" Ping has several meanings in Chinese, but two of my favorite translations are balance and peace. In addition to sound yoga instruction, I strive to impart these concepts in my classes...not just literally balancing on one foot with the other one twisted behind you, but rather a balance between the concepts of yin (soft, dark, restful) and yang (hard, bright, lively). With our über-busy schedules, everyone can benefit from exploring the calming yin side, as well as the strengthening yang side, of a dedicated yoga practice. I also hope to help my students find peace in our frighteningly frantic society through a mindful yoga practice. We owe it to ourselves to slow down, look inward, reflect, breathe, and care for our bodies-mentally and physically. |
